I’m Lauren and I’m so glad you’re here. You’ll find book recs as well as bits and pieces of my every day life.

seeking rhythms

It has been an absolute whirlwind of a few months. We decided to relocate from Washington back to Arkansas to be closer to family. Finished renovating our house before listing, sold and packed up our whole house, and finally made our way halfway across the country. I have not cooked a meal in weeks and I am itching to be back in my own (temporary) space. I am not the most disciplined and certainly wouldn’t have said I had a TON of structure before but being without most of it for an extended period of time has made me see 1. the small ways that I HAD built structure into my days and 2. how deeply I am craving it again.

an out-of-state move is the most fun I never want to have again.

I just started listening to Tranquility by Tuesday and I can already tell its going to be a new favorite. I’ll have to report back once I’ve finished it but I think it will have a ton of practical steps and I’m looking forward to settling into our new home with this in my toolkit.

One way I’m seeking out a rhythm? Moving my body for 30 minutes a day, most days. It might be a few stacked peloton classes, it might be yoga, it might be a walk. Just SOMETHING to be intentional and to honor the body I have.

Another way I’m seeking out some structure and less decision fatigue? A weekly meal framework with a category assigned to each day. Monday is for pasta, Tuesday is for a taco-ish meal and so on. While I’m feeling motivated, I’ve been searching for recipes that fit into each category and linking them all on google drive. I love to use pinterest (and it is where I’ve found most I’m using!) but I needed something more culled and less overwhelming. I would really like to be an organized person and this is my attempt at trying to calm some of the chaos. I’m hoping small changes will add up and be manageable long term.
